Great skin has a little to do with good genes and a lot to do with a good moisturizer. Even if you don’t have time for a lengthy beauty routine, adding an effective moisturizer to your daily beauty rituals can brighten your skin, make you look younger, and keep you from getting flaky in the colder winter months. Here, some of my favorite moisturizers:
Philosophy Hope in a Jar: Philosophy is known for its whimsical product names and high quality skincare products, and this is one of its best. Hope in a Jar is a light cream that was designed to be used on patients who were recovering from cosmetic procedures. It smells a little funny, but will make your skin soft and glowy.
Bliss Best of Skintentions: This lightweight moisturizer has spf and smells like oranges. If you are looking to brighten your skin and don’t need a heavy duty cream, this is a great, refreshing pick.
Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer: My favorite drugstore pick, this moisturizer claims to moisturize dry areas and balance oily ones. It’s not lying. Whenever I use this cheap beauty find, I get compliments on my complexion.
Oil of Olay:I’m not even going to try to name just one product from Oil of Olay’s extensive line of moisturizers. The fact remains that if you are looking for a quality moisturizer at a reasonable price, Olay is a great bet. In the winter months, when my skin is more dry, I particularly like the night cream, but the daily moisturizers, which come in a variety of spfs and cater to sensitive skin, are always effective.
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion: You probably recognize this one from its signature big yellow bottle. It’s become a cult classic, and that’s because it works. It feels lightweight but hydrates better than many moisturizers. This is a great pick for sensitive skin.
Origins Balanced Diet Lightweight Moisture Lotion:I have combination skin, and this is hands down the best moisturizer designed for those with schizophrenic skin that I have ever tried. While it’s not quite heavy enough for the dead of winter when my skin gets super dry, it is otherwise a great, non-oily moisturizer that keeps dry spots soft and oily spots blemish free.
Cover Girl CG Smoothers Tinted Moisture:Believe it or not, this less than $10 tube of moisturizer is the one I return to again and again for a daily moisturizer. It moisturizers perfectly year-round, and it gives a sheer layer of color that hides little imperfections and evens out skin tone.
