Pantene Micellar: A Gentle Clean

I was recently very pleasantly surprised to receive an unexpected delivery from Influenster – they sent me full-sized bottles of Pantene Pro-V Blends Micellar Shampoo and Conditioner free for testing purposes. I’ve been having some serious shampoo commitment issues lately, so I was more than happy to give these a try.

The combination of this gentle cleansing wash and moisturizing rinse is meant to transform fragile hair into strands of strength. After about a month of use, I can confirm that my hair appears to be stronger. I seem to be losing fewer strands throughout the day and my hair feels generally healthy. I’m also really digging the light floral scent of these products – it reminds me of lilacs and is perfect for spring.

The shampoo leaves my scalp clean – not dry – and my hair light and bouncy. The conditioner is lightweight and a decent detangler. They make a great daily haircare duo, but I must caution you if you (like me) like to skip a day between shampoos; about halfway through the second day my hair was embarrassingly limp and greasy. Definitely do not skip a day if you’re using these products!

Overall I like the way the micellar line makes my hair look, feel and smell. Have you tried it yet?

Want Softer Hair?

I guess the answer to the title question would probably be, who doesn’t? Every girl wants to feel pretty and certain things add up to feeling prettier – smoother skin, brighter eyes, and, naturally, softer hair.

In addition to eating pretty, there are a few additional things you can do to make your hair more touchable. Many soft hair solutions involve getting a little dirty, or at least letting your hair get dirty. Hair models are known to go days or sometimes weeks without shampooing, because the scalp’s natural oils are great moisturizers and help keep hair healthy. So, as yucky as some might find this advice, skipping a day or two between washes, even if only occasionally, can help you take advantage of those natural moisturizers. Also, not washing often leads to not styling, and giving your hair a break from your hair dryer/curling iron/straightening iron is an added, healthy-hair bonus.

Regular brushing can also help stimulate some of that oil production and help distribute those moisturizers along your strands. But if skipping a shampoo or increasing oil production just isn’t your thing, there are some things you can do in the shower.

Never underestimate the power of conditioner. In addition to your daily slather, using a weekly deep conditioner can really help your hair stay soft. Even if you don’t have a special treatment, leaving your regular conditioner on for a few minutes before rinsing is an easy way to give your locks some TLC.

And if you’re just looking for a miracle shampoo that will magically transform your hair from frazzled to unbelievably soft, I’ve got some good news for you. Pantene’s new Solutions line of products offers a Frizzy to Smooth shampoo and conditioner that are simply amazing. They smell great, and have honestly made my hair ridiculously soft.

Rather obnoxiously, I’ve gone around asking friends and family members to touch my hair, and they all agree that it is unusually soft.

Not bad for a bottle of drugstore shampoo.
